Customers Flee Wal-Mart Empty Shelves for Target, Costco

Watching WalMart implode due to its own greed makes me happy. “Hey, we can save money by cutting staff. Hey, we can cut wages. What? We have no quality people to stock shelves and maintain minimum operations? What? People are going to Target and other stores? We must cut staff to decrease expenses.” and repeat. Even the giants get stupid when it comes to cash. Read More

Wall Street up to its old tricks

Stop me if you’ve heard this one… Banks stuffing bad mortgages into bonds and selling them for a profit…. This is not a repeat from 2007. Greed ALWAYS trumps common sense. This is how we tanked the economy the first time. The housing market is gearing for a 3rd nosedive in the coming year. Read more

Dear Jim Carrey….

Dear Jim Carrey, you are an actor. you spend your talents pretending to be someone besides who you really are. I don’t look to you for opinion or commentary on social situations… make me laugh, clown, that is all I need you to do. Now quiet down, do something funny and stop ruining your schtick trying to tell me what ethics I should have. Thank you. Sincerely, Chris. Wow do I hate Hollywood more and more everyday. READ MORE

A Department of Homeland Security program intended to give “trusted traveler” status to low-risk airline passengers soon will be extended to Saudi travelers, opening the program to criticism for accommodating the country that produced 15 of the 19 hijackers behind the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. So let me wrap my head around this, we’re going to continue to search 4 year old preschoolers and military heroes who’ve had legs amputated in war, but we’re going to extended the courtesy of not having to have a passport to Saudis, from a country which produced 15 of the 19 hijackers on 9/11…. seems insane. France and Germany don’t even get this courtesy extended to them. Saudi Arabia does??

TSA agents ‘humiliated’ wounded Marine

When are these thugs at the TSA going to go back to their caves? The entire agency has been a huge waste of money providing nothing more than security theater. Between the touching of little kids, fondling old people and now this, all in the name of ‘safety’… Transportation Security Administration inspectors forced a wounded Marine who lost both of his legs in an IED blast and who was in a wheelchair to remove his prosthetic legs at one point, and at another point to stand painfully on his legs while his wheelchair was examined, according to a complaint a congressman has registered with the TSA.

1.6 Billion Rounds Of Ammo For Homeland Security? It’s Time For A National Conversation

The Denver Post, on February 15th, ran an Associated Press article entitled Homeland Security aims to buy 1.6b rounds of ammo, to far too little notice. It confirmed that the Department of Homeland Security has issued an open purchase order for 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition. As elsewhere reported, much of this purchase order is for rounds forbidden by international law for use in war plus a frightening amount specialized for snipers. Also reported elsewhere, at the height of the Iraq War the Army was expending fewer than 6 million rounds a month. 1.6 billion rounds, therefore, would be enough to sustain a hot war for 20+ years. In America. Continue reading….

The Humble “Shift” key

Random fact of the night: you have a “Shift” key on my keyboard. It’s called that because typewriters used to physically shift the striker mechanism so the upper case letter would hit the paper.
But the “upper case” letter was below the “lower case” letter. So why was it called that? Because of an even older piece of technology: movable type printing presses. The two different type faces were stored in a box called a type case. Capital letters in the upper drawer, non-capital in the lower drawer. Annnnd…. now you know!
